Habitat for Humanity Project
1/15/05
|
Members of Evergreen had their first official workday at the Habitat for Humanity project in Pittsboro on Saturday,
January 15th. Eleven workers, both men and women, represented our Church.
They were David Applegate, Gene
Jackson, Dan Stroupe, John Grose, Darrell & Rachel Kohr, Connie Riddle, Bob Andrews, Steven Hudak, Rob Wilkins,
and Stan Koziol. It was a clear, cold morning with temperatures in the thirties but the crew was still able to work on
the siding project plus make progress on the construction of a handicap ramp.
How is our Church involved?
Evergreen UMC is a participant in the Apostles Build program with Chatham Habitat for Humanity.
What does that
mean? We, as a Church, will be instrumental in answering a family's prayers!
As part of the Apostles Build program, there will be opportunities for us to assist in the actual construction of the
house, opportunities to provide lunches and snacks, and the opportunity to support the project financially.
A
Habitat for Humanity partnership is $25,000 but by participating in the Apostles Build program, EUMC is pledging
only 1/12th of that amount, $2,080. A special fund has already been set up at the Church, so please designate
your donations to the "Habitat for Humanity Project."
The Fund has started out with $200 that was designated
from the Church's 2005 budget!
